James “Jimmy” E. Smith, Jr. is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in the State of Mississippi. He has 40-plus years of trial experience in Circuit, Chancery, and Appellate Courts in the state of Mississippi as well as Municipal and Justice Courts. He was the City of Carthage Prosecuting Attorney from 1976 to 1983, giving him a unique and encompassing perspective on the local Justice System, therefore making him uniquely qualified to handle your case.
Jimmy is a former member of the East Mississippi Legal Services Board of Directors and a former member of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors. He is a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Mississippi Board of Bar Admissions from 1990 to present, and Chairman of Character and Fitness Committee for the Mississippi Board of Bar Admissions from 2007 to present. Jimmy also serves as legal counsel for Central Electric Power Association.
Jimmy has extensive trial experience, both plaintiff and defendant in personal and motorcycle injury law, product liability, pharmaceutical cases, mass torts, criminal law, Chancery matters, domestic relations, will contents, property matters, estate matters, offshore injuries, and longshoremen and harbor workers.
